Dress Code
General Guidelines
The following are principles that will be applied to the dress code policies at Arrowhead Christian Academy and are listed in order of importance: modesty, appropriateness, and distinctiveness. Various guidelines are made with these principles in mind, and we trust that you will find them reasonable and will graciously follow the guidelines showing deference where you may not personally agree or find it convenient. Please refer to ACA's Uniform Listing for specific information (clothing options, color selections, etc.). All school apparel should be chosen from this list.
Final decisions on questionable clothing will be made by the administration. Failure to follow the dress code could result in after school detention.
Parents, please ensure that your child is in accordance with these dress guidelines before they come to school each day.
Boy's Guidelines
Boys should wear slacks that are listed on our approved uniform list. Slacks must be worn with a belt. Belt buckles may not have inappropriate symbols (rock music, Gothic, movie stars, etc). Questionable buckles must be approved by the administration before being worn to school. Slacks should be worn at the natural waistline.
Shirts worn must be those listed on our approved uniform list. Shirts must be tucked in. Colors or writing on undershirts must not show through the uniform shirt.
Athletic shoes are suitable for kindergarten through sixth grade. Athletic shoes should only be worn for physical education class for seventh through twelfth grade. All shoelaces must be tied normally. Appropriate socks must be worn with shoes.
Kindergarten through second grade boys may wear shorts listed on our uniform list. They must be long enough to come to the knees. Shorts must be worn with a belt.

Sweaters and sweatshirts must not have pictures or writing on them. Jackets with writing on them must be approved by the administration. No hooded sweatshirts may be worn.
Boys may not wear any jewelry - necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.
Hats may not be worn in the school buildings.
Sunglasses may not be worn without permission.
Girl's Guidelines
Girls should wear skirts and blouses that are listed on our approved uniform list. The skirt may not have a slit in the front or on the sides. The skirt needs to look like the skirts pictured on our uniform listing.
Blouses and polo shirts must be tucked in. A camisole should be worn with white polo shirts.
Length of skirts should be to bottom of the knee when sitting. Skirts on our approved uniform list have a natural waistline. If any other type of skirt is purchased, it must be approved by the administration. Skirts must be worn at the natural waistline. Low riders are not permitted. An appropriate belt should be worn if there are belt loops on the skirt.
Elementary girls should wear shorts under their dresses at school for modesty during recess activities.
Nice, clean shiny faces and fingernails should be worn to school each day.: (Sorry, no makeup or nail polish for kindergarten through eighth grade.)
Athletic shoes are suitable each day for kindergarten through sixth grade. Athletic shoes should only be worn for physical education classes in seventh through twelfth grade. All shoelaces must be tied normally. No backless shoes or backless sandals for girls in K - 6th grades. Flip flop, beach-style shoes are not acceptable for K-12th grades. No slipper-style shoes may be worn.

Interscholastic Sports Attire
Students who come to interscholastic games as spectators are expected to dress in accordance with school modesty, appropriateness and distinctiveness guidelines. Team players must wear the team uniform required by the coach.
Hair Guidelines
Fad and outlandish hairstyles are not appropriate. No hair coloring of any kind is allowed, including bleaching, stripping, or highlighting. Hairstyles for both boys and girls should be conservative.
Girls should maintain hairstyles that reflect Biblical femininity.
Boys should maintain a neat, tapered look (not blocked), off the ears and collar. Hair should be properly thinned and trimmed around the ears.
Boys must be clean-shaven at all times.
